- It should be an Indian national.
- You are older than the CDL eligibility age of 18. However, it is 20 or 22 years in several Indian states.
- The minimum educational need is a passing grade 8 grade.
- Must possess a learner’s permit.
- You must receive training from a government motor training institution or one connected to the government to apply for a CDL.

Commercial Driving License Apply Online
You can apply driving license both online and offline. The process of applying online for a CDL has been greatly simplified by digitization. For driving license, apply online follow the below instructions;
- First, navigate to the portal for the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
- There, open and download Form No. 4 for driving license advertisements.
- Complete the form and upload the necessary identity and address verification documents, such as a passport, voter ID, or Aadhaar card.
- Subsequently, upload the training center’s Form 5 and Form 1A for a medical certificate.
- After that, pay the fees for your application. Then press OK to consent and continue.
- Upon successful submission, you will receive a serial number on your registered mobile number.
Commercial Driving License Apply Offline
The offline application is also relatively easy; thus, adhere to the below directions for it.
- First, go to your nearby Regional Transport Office.
- There, ask for and collect Form no. 2.
- Next, fill up your form carefully and submit it. Along with that, attach the following:
- Form no. 1A for medical certification.
- Form no. 5 furnished by the training center.
- Other required documents include voter ID or an Aadhaar card for proof of identity and residence.
- Submit all these forms and documents with your application fees.
- Consequently, you will receive a serial number on your registered mobile after submission.

The cost of a commercial driver’s license is Rs 1,000. However, it is Rs 1500 for passenger and large cargo trucks.
